The intended parents are recognised as the legal parents and are recorded directly on the birth certificate.
- Does the surrogate mother have parental rights?
No. Under Ukrainian law, the surrogate mother does not acquire parental rights to the child.
- Who can participate in surrogacy programs in Ukraine?
Surrogacy is permitted for married heterosexual couples who have medical indications preventing pregnancy.
- Can single parents use surrogacy in Ukraine?
No. Ukrainian law currently allows surrogacy only for married couples.

The full process usually takes 12–18 months, depending on medical factors and pregnancy progress.
- How long does it take to find a surrogate mother?
The matching process usually may take 3–4 months (for the VIP package), up to 6 months (for the Standard PLUS) and up to 1 year (for the Standard package).
- Why is the waiting time shorter in Ukraine?

- How much does surrogacy cost in Ukraine?
Surrogacy programs typically range between €39,900 and €64,900, depending on the program and services included.

- What are the requirements for surrogate mothers?
Typical requirements include:

- good physical and psychological health.
- How are surrogate mothers screened?
Candidates undergo extensive medical, psychological, and background screening before acceptance.
- Can intended parents meet the surrogate?
This depends on the program and preferences of both parties.
- How many embryos are transferred?
Usually, one or two embryos are transferred depending on medical recommendations.
- What is the success rate of IVF with surrogacy?

- How often do intended parents receive updates?

- for medical procedures or embryo transfer (sperm collection can be arranged in a different country).

- What documents are issued after birth?
The main document is the birth certificate, which lists the intended parents.
- Is adoption required after birth?
No. Adoption is not required because the intended parents are legally recognised from the moment of birth.
- How does the baby obtain citizenship?
Parents apply for citizenship through their embassy based on their nationality.
- Can the baby leave Ukraine immediately?
The baby can travel once the passport and citizenship documents are issued.
- Is surrogacy safe in Ukraine during the war?
Surrogacy programs have continued operating during the war with additional safety measures and contingency planning.
- Have babies been born through surrogacy during the war?
Yes. More than 1,000 children have been born through surrogacy programs in Ukraine since the start of the war.
